Yesterday was the first day of Spring!

Now, I’m in Michigan, so it’s going to take the weather a little bit of time to get with the program. On Sunday, it was warm enough to take a walk. Later this week, snow is expected. I’m trying to focus on the positives.

And one of those positives is the feeling of renewed energy and focus that Spring provides.

The concept of “Spring Cleaning” is one of the purest forms of this. Now, I’m not the biggest fan of chores. I’m just as guilty of putting off laundry or dishes as anyone. But there’s something really invigorating about a good spring cleaning. It makes the house feel so fresh and new. I always feel really peaceful and encouraged when it’s done, which makes the somewhat tedious process worth it.

So I’ve been wondering: how can I adapt the concept of spring cleaning to my freelancing career?

The winter slump hit me harder than usual this year. I managed to stay on top of my work well enough, but things like my organizational skills have taken a definite hit. The state of my Desktop is frankly a little embarrassing. And my Downloads folder? It’s a nightmare in there.

The time has definitely come for me to get on top of things again.

My office is going to need a good deep clean, too. It’s not quite as dire as my files situation, but there’s still a fair amount of clutter (it doesn’t help that my cat enjoys dragging her toys and things in while I’m working). Maybe I’ll even rearrange some things — give myself a fresh perspective for the new season.

I’d love to hear about your professional spring cleaning plans! Feel free to reach out here, through email, or on social media.

Here’s to a productive and energizing Spring!
