It’s been a busy week! So I’m giving a shorter-than-usual blog today.
I think one of my biggest misconceptions about freelance writing was the idea that I could “work wherever I wanted.”
Now, this is true in theory. But the truth is, most of my days are spent sitting at the desk in our guest bedroom, which I’ve claimed as my office.
There’s nothing stopping me from going out to, say, a coffeeshop. But making myself look presentable and driving over there takes valuable time, time that I could just as easily spend working. And ordering a coffee feels like money wasted when I have perfectly good coffee at home.
Especially during this time of year, when it’s gloomy and cold, I’m much more inclined to stay inside with my space heater and cats.
I’d love to open this question up to other freelancers, because I think it’s interesting. What parts of the job don’t quite live up to the expectations you had when you started?
